Introduction Antarctica is an extremely interesting continent in our wonderful world! It is the coldest, driest, windiest continent. As you are learning about Antarctica throughout our unit, it is important to know about the people who first discovered and walked the continent and the hardships they went through to be a great explorer.
The Task In this WebQuest you will choose and research an Antarctic Explorer from the past or present. As you find information about the history and explorers of Antarctica, you will document your findings on a graphic organizer. You will get to make a digital timeline of your explorers life. You will then create a visual and write a report on your chosen person, which you will present to your ALPHA class.
The Process 1.) Your will use "The Hat" on the SmartBoard to select an Antarctic Explorer to research. Once you select your explorer's name, you will use the three links below to read about your assigned person. Fill in the Antarctic Explorer Graphic Organizer with the information you find. You will use this graphic organizer to help you write your one to two page report. You will print out your graphic organizer and be able to review the grading rubric for your report and presentation under the "Resources" section of this WebQuest.

2.) Your next assignment will be to take the informaiton you find and type it into a digital timeline of your explorers life. When you are finished typing in your information, you will print out your timeline and it will become part of your presentation. You will turn in your graphic organizer, timeline, report, Presentation Recording Sheet and visual aid to your teacher to get the final grade for this project. Go HERE to begin your timeline.
3.) Use all the information from your research to write a one to two page report. Use your graphic organizer and timeline to help you get all your important information into your report.
4.) You will also be responsible for creating a visual to show your class. Your visual display can be a poster board, a chart, or a series of cartoons that tell about the life of your explorer. You will need to attach your timeline to your visual aid.
